About the movie:
This movie is based on two books in the The Pirates! series including In an Adventure with Scientists and In an Adventure with Whaling by Gidean Defoe (note: these books aren't necessarily for children.
The move is stop-motion animation (the kind with the clay figures), but relies heavily on computer animation as well. Peter Lord, one of the directors, is best known for his work on Wallace & Gromit and the movie Chicken Run.
In the movie the Pirate Captain (played by Hugh Grant) and his crew go on all sorts of crazy adventures in an attempt to win the Pirate of the Year Award. They go up against their arch rivals Black Bellamy and Cutlass Liz.
